The Elephant Woolton Village...x

"There is a big difference between a city centre restaurant and one in the suburbs.
You are servicing the local community, they want to feel that it is a home from home"
Simon Rimmer

Once upon a time, before Little Monkey came into our lives, my husband and I spent our date nights in a little place called Liberty Tavern.  We had our must have seats (at the bar), our favourite wine, our best loved dishes, hey we even had our go to barman.

We still frequent Liberty, but now its more for special occasions, rather than a "Hey its Friday, why not" occasion.  But luckily for us just next door is The Elephant, a delicious bakehouse and pub that  boasts the now familiar phase 'family friendly'.
Can you spot the Elephant in the room?
So this weekend as part of our family day out, we headed down to the Elephant for a spot of lunch and people watching.  Why I love this particular family of bars is the super friendly staff that always make you feel welcome.  Therefore on arrival we were greeted by the host for the day who took us to our table & set Little Monkey up with a high chair, all with a smile.

Now I had set my heart Instagram's breakfast dujour, avocado with poach eggs on toast, but unfortunately this was part of the breakfast menu.  But I have promised to treat myself when Henry does his first morning at nursery next month (cue crying emoji).   Instead I came over all nostalgic and ordered the smoked haddock fishcakes with poached egg.  Nostalgic...as it happened to be my last meal at the Elephant before I was induced the following day with Henry back in March.  & thankfully it tasted just as good, if not better, as I actually had room too to fit it all in.

My husband had the signature Elephant burger (yum) and Henry enjoyed lots of smiles from the adjoining tables.  However if you do have the pleasure of visiting the Bakehouse, I fully recommend the stone baked pizzas and the steak ciabatta sandwich with dipping gravy (cue watering mouth, mouth watering, hey you get what I mean).

But the piece de resistance has to be the baby changing facilities.  I've never been one to obsess over the restrooms in restaurants and bars, however since having Henry I now only frequent places with suitable nappy changing areas.  & The Elephant boasts one of the best.  The room is in-keeping with the restaurants decor and has ample room for all your baby stuff.  But wait for it, it also has a fabulous leather chair, just because they can.

If you decide to visit The Elephant on a weekend, I recommend you make a booking as it fills up super quick.  Also check out the What's On link online as they hold some amazing events.  Enjoy x
