My Childhood Santa Pics...x

"I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree

I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you, yeah".
Mariah Carey

Once upon a time, when the 80s was considered the "It Era" and was fashionable, I was welcomed into the world by my rather trendy Mum.

Mum had big hair, I had big hair. Mum wore oversized, (well everything) & I wore miniature versions of oversized. & if my Mum wasn't afraid of colour, then I too embraced the glitzy razzle dazzle of the 80s colour palette.

So for my very first outfit to meet the all important Father Christmas, my Mum didn't disappoint. Taking me to Blacklers, a large Liverpool department store, made famous by its lavish grotto and rocking horse.  And if you look throughout my pictures, a love of art deco style printed velvet drapes.
The hair just keeps getting bigger & bigger x
My first look consisted of a little nautical dress (ahhh I love stripes) with an oversized cherry embossed collar. Then to complete my ensemble, I had a little boy tie in my mini ponytail (the big hair came later).

Next up was my Mums take on the now all important Christmas jumper.  My penguin printed Mohair knit screams the 80's and the hot pink steals away from Santa's traditional red.  Hey even the little clouds compliment Father Christmas's beard, wow my Mum was good.  Lastly my little ponytail was upgraded to two and the look wouldn't be complete with the now controversial ear piercings.

In later years the hair got bigger and so did my clothes.  Ski suits, chunky knits, big collars, bolder colours and thankful big smiles.  Hey I loved Christmas from an early age.

This week I will be taking my Little Monkey to his first Christmas grotto to meet the all important man in red.  My Mum has now passed the baton and she has set the bar and hair high.

Merry Christmas Mum x
