Pregnancy style... The Nautical Trend x

This spring, fashion is channelling French Rivera style, and is having a nautical moment.  As we peel off our winter layers, the classic colour palette of navy, crisp blues and optic whites feels like the perfect trend to get behind this season.  & best of all, it will carry our pregnant bumps into summer too.

The beauty of nautical dressing is the versatility of the trend and its effortlessness in putting it all together as a look. Which coupled with everything you already have going on with new baby prep, it takes the stress out of dressing your bump.

When it comes to Pregnancy Style, denim and in particular jeans when you get the right shape, can guarantee you instant cool.  If you focus your attention on finding the right style for you and your shape, then the rest of your pregnancy is a walk in the park.

For me it's always been about the skinny leg, it elongates my petite frame and thankfully highlights that I still have legs amongst my new lumps and bumps.  The beauty of the nautical trend allows you to play with an array of washes, from indigo hues, over washed blues to new summer whites.

When it comes to styling up your denims within the nautical trend, one key shape not to overlook is the bardot top.  Navy will always be a classic and styled with volume sleeves and intricate pin tucks, this highly inexpensive piece by F&F is the ultimate in easy chic.

Teamed with jeans this overall look requires minimal effort, however the hard work has to be done underneath.  When it comes to pregnancy style don't neglect your lingerie which is as essential as those birth bag must haves.  I unfortunately pile on most of my weight on top, so investing in the right bra and in this case a strapless one was fundamental.

The everyday shirt this season has been deconstructed to combine new fashion shapes with easy function.  The humble button up has undergone a transformation, incorporating avant garde details and silhouettes in wearable cotton mixes.  This all sounds fantastic, but what does that mean for your bumps this summer?  Well cotton is breathable which if like me you are feeling the heat during the weather transition.  But best of all, the high street has recognised that this trend is equally as important for us pregnancy ladies.

This cold shoulder shape is the perfect mix of pretty femininity with its use of ruffles and delicate stripes and contemporary in its shirt detailing.  Admittedly this style in particular didn't fit as I had hoped, however with the breath of styles on offer, I am confident I can still work this look into my own style.  Don't be afraid to try new looks, it only takes that one element to bring your look to life.

When pregnant, the delicious thing about wearing a dress is that it requires so little thought and yet it always makes you feel like you have made an effort.  This spring summer, fashion is having a love affair with the iconic piece and in a navy base like this Polka Dot style by New Look, it enhances your new curves in all the right places.

This off the shoulder dress comes in a plisse fabric which gives the traditional polka dot a new lease of life.  The off the shoulder element that can be worn off one shoulder or both draws your eyes up and makes you feel ultra feminine despite the new found extra midriff weight.

I'm loving this midi length dress for an upcoming wedding we have down south this summer.  The nature of the fabric allows me to not have to worry about ironing it on arrival and I feel it accentuates all my good bits... well the ones I have left.

When it comes to accessory's and in this case footwear, I'm obsessed with the summer wedge.  However recognising my own limitations with my one going Pelvic Girdle Pain, I will be exchanging these Zara beauties with a tan sandal.

Each year the nautical trend has built up a well deserved reputation for being the go to look for transitioning your wardrobe.  However this season the major players in maternity dressing have got on board and have created some versatile looks that should work seamlessly with your growing bump.  Whether you choice to simply purchase the right bump enhancing jean or the deconstructed shirt, just remember to own your look and have confidence in your changing shape.
